Join a small and artsy community in a Manitou home. Manitou is nestled at the base of the mountains at the foot of Pikes Peak just west of Colorado Springs. There are many opportunities to get out and enjoy the outdoors, grab a meal at a tasty restaurant, and shop in unique stores downtown. This quirky community also has a wide variety of community events throughout the year such as The Great Fruitcake Toss, Carnivale Weekend, Manitou Springs Colorado Wine Festival, Commonwheel Arts Festival, Heritage Brew Festival, and the Emma Crawford Coffin Races and Festival.

Manitou is rich in history. The natural mineral springs that flow here have been a part of Native American life for hundreds of years. Take a walking tour and sample the water from the eight natural springs that are located around town. Many people also flocked here looking for relief from tuberculosis in the sunshine and fresh air during the 1800’s. There are many unique pieces of Manitou real estate to choose from. Spend time at Memorial Park Soda Springs Park, or Schryver Park, and tackle the Manitou Incline if you are brave. This intense hike is less than a mile but has a 1,912 foot elevation gain. Hikers can also catch Barr Trail in Manitou Springs to get to the top of Pikes Peak. Other popular attractions in town include the Manitou Springs Aquatics and Fitness Center, the Penny Arcade, Cliff Dwellings Museum, Cave of the Winds, Miramont Castle, and the Iron Springs Chateau Historic Melodrama Theater. The Pikes Peak Cog Railway also ran out of Manitou for many years. This train ride up Pikes Peak was very popular, but unfortunately had to cease operations for repairs in 2018. It is expected to be up and running again in 2021.
